A few more shots from around town, and I forgot in the last post.

Screening sand for Concrete

The house they are working on will be similar to the house next door.

You have to love the Chicken and underwear store. So random.

This guy was making raking the beach and all day job.

These travelers started in Vancover Canada, and drove to Panama and are on their way back. They are retired and just loving life. They took their son and a friend with them. When asked how many miles are on the Van they said “I don’t know probably around 300,000. The odometer broke at 200,000″ They only broke down once from hitting a Tope at night at 60 mph. They are super chill and invited me to stop by the next day. Oh, and it’s a 1982 VW with an aircooled 2 liter.

Playing cards and hanging out with good people. This is basically the short version of this last week.

We take our card games very seriously

This was pretty cool. We found a Scorpion just hanging upside down from the ceiling. It was the first one I have ever seen. We knock it down into a cardboard box, then scare each other with it for a second before I toss it over the wall.

I don’t think I started my bike for a week, but I should at least fix that tail light that I got pulled over for. I take the cover off and find that it is just a burned out bulb, but in Mexico, “just a burned out bulb” may be a bigger deal than in the States. I try to remove it and it is stuck. It looks like BigDog JB Welded the sucker in there.

No problemo. I just broke the bulb and pulled it out with pliers.

Now off to the hardware store. The owner pulls out a similar, but it is slightly different. You can see the prongs are different.

It is the only option and we try it anyway. What do you know. It fits better than stock. I think the bulb we took out was wrong. That explains why it was JB Welded in there. Imagine my luck?

The tail light cover screws are blown out, so I superglue it back on. I thought about using JB Weld, but I didn’t feel like making getting it out and making the mess. Three days later it was confirmed. I should have used the JB Weld. The cover is now gone.

Here is my clutch cable that went out on me a week ago.

All good things must come to an end. The butlers were going to fly out the next day. So Eric’s dad Rick took us all out for Dinner.

Allen and Lindsey are the people we all stayed with. They are from Michigan too and live down her 4 months out of the year. Great people.

The girls both had birthdays, so the waiter came by and made them little hats and brought out some flan.

Great times and Great food. Eric, Michael and I all ordered Shrimp and Lobster. The beer was flowing, and Rick bought us a shot of 1800 Tequila.
The Butlers are such great family. They are the most generous people I know. I can’t thank them enough for letting me crash their family vacation.

Thanks Rick, Roxy, Eric and Michael!

The Mayans were some short people. They also have Ruins left all over the Yucatan Peninsula. There is only one known Ruin on the Water and a funny thing about it is, the temples are facing inland. All the doors and windows face west. They didn’t care about the water. They were into worshiping some star or planet in the West. Kind of weird. We drove down there to check it out of a day. I havn’t been in a car for a month now and had forgotten about some of their inconveniences.

  • You can’t drive over “Topes” in 4th gear
  • You can’t split lanes very well
  • Hard to do U-turns
  • If someone farts everyone pays for it.

You enter the Ruins from the wall.

These guys were everywhere. It is one of those things where you see one and get all excited, then see another, then another, and you can’t stop seeing them.

Erics dad was here a few years ago and said these stairs are all new. There was also new barricades to keep you walking on the paths now. This stuff is getting too modern.

Eric

This photo reminded me of one of these printer ads in magazines showing off the detailed quality.

The crew

On the walk back to the car we stop and watch these guys. Michael just jumps in with them in the traditional dance with his American flavor. It was so funny.

We all grab a beer and sit down to watch the whole routine from the beginning.

No safety harnesses. “OSHA doesn’t know about Mexico”

Locked and loaded

Release

Another great day completed
